Our department's faculty member Dr. Faculty Member Uğur TOZKOPARAN gave a conference as part of the memorial events organized by our university's Çavdır Vocational School and our faculty's student club, History Science and Economics Society, on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory on March 18. Within the framework of the program, our department's faculty member Dr. Faculty Member Uğur Tozkoparan met with the students of Çavdır Vocational School with his presentation titled “The Eastern Question and Turkey's Geopolitics: From Çanakkale to the Republic National Struggle”.
In the conference, Dr. Faculty Member Uğur Tozkoparan addressed the historical roots of the Eastern Question, stating that the political and cultural competition between the Western world and the East has manifested in different forms throughout history. The geopolitical struggles shaped by the settlement of Turks in Anatolia, the relations of the Ottoman State with Europe, and the political developments that emerged during this process were evaluated from a historical perspective.
The program also focused on how critical breaking points such as the Balkan Wars, World War I, and the Çanakkale Front during the last period of the Ottoman State affected Turkey's geopolitical position. It was emphasized that the Çanakkale Victory is not only a military success but also an important symbol of the Turkish nation's will for independence and the spirit of national resistance. The historical connections of the resistance that started from Çanakkale to the National Struggle process and the establishment of the Republic were discussed in the presentation.
This meaningful event highlighted the importance of historical consciousness and geopolitical awareness.
